Everything speaks to them of themselves, (2018-2019)

USING walking as an aesthetic practice I appropriate the decimononic literary figure of the flâneur, the aimless wanderer/vagabond who drifts through the city in order to experience it from outside the logic of consumption, thus interpreting it as a funnel of symbols.
This work is the result of a series of dérives made throughout Madrid walking as a "benjaminean detective" searching for the clues to a crime; a crime ultimately discovered to be the same city depicted as a territorial wasteland under the abstract and impersonal forces of late capitalism.
